25+ Employees whose coworkers are driving them up the wall: 'It was easily the worst shift I ever ha
When your coworker is great at their job but the most annoying person on the planet, you're in for a tough time. You know they won't get fired any time soon… but they're also driving you insane with all of their quirks and habits. Just ask these people, whose coworkers couldn't be more annoying.
Some workers are just totally lazy, and they won't lift a finger in the workplace unless the boss is looking. This makes everyone else take on a bigger burden, and if you complain to the boss, sometimes you look like a whiner who can't handle their workload. Other people are dealing with nepotism hires, who are really unfirable. If you're the CEO's kid, you can just put your feet up all day and never do a thing.
But maybe the worst kind of bad coworker is the one who is beloved by management and pretty good at their job… but they spend hours each day gossiping on the phone, or they crunch on loud snacks endlessly, or they insist on talking to you every few minutes, meaning you get no work done.
After you read about these terrible coworkers, check out the tale of the neighbor who destroyed an HOA from the inside out after being fined $200: "The President had resigned… and put his house up for sale."

'I requested 2 Saturdays off 2 months in advance. Both requests were denied outright': Employee can'
Imagine your manager being so petty that you can't even take off work for your own wedding! This overworked employee experienced the downside of being better at her job than her manager was at theirs. Essentially, the employee was so detail-oriented that she came to notice several scheduling errors, having tried to point them out politely to her boss. Unfortunately, her boss interpreted these notes as a threat, and it backfired when the employee needed their approval for some upcoming PTO days… for her wedding!
The most frustrating part of this story is that without proper oversight from those at the top, some middle management bosses can get away with actions that simply should not be permitted. If an employee requests PTO several months in advance, that request should be accepted no matter what. If that request also happens to be for a particularly special occasion like a wedding, once again, there should be zero pushback. Even if this manager deserved to be less lenient with this employee for some reason, their wedding would not be the right time to be difficult.

Job candidate roasts panel interviewers to their faces, accidentally impresses CEO and gets the job:
Job interviews are never fun, but panel interviews are a whole different level of psychological warfare. Between memorizing your resume, tailoring your answers for each person in the room, and praying you don't accidentally say something weird, it's amazing more of us don't have a mental breakdown mid-interview.
One candidate recently found themselves in exactly that scenario with five interviewers in one conference room for a first-round interview. Little did he know, the company's CEO was a part of that panel.

Employee told they're not allowed to work from home, when they're asked to finish something urgently
Some people want to have their cake and eat it too; those people, apparently, go on to own or manage businesses.
I've had this happen at a retail job where I managed. The store closed and doors locked at 6:00 PM, and our shifts were scheduled to end at that point, but that was never going to be possible. There were cash registers that still had to be cashed up, doors to be locked, and plenty of things to tidy and wrap up. Just the time it took to walk around the large store to do this could take you five minutes.
And that was before you even accounted for the fact that there were almost always customers still in the store when the doors closed. The shop was in a central business district, so it was incredibly common to have people getting off work coming through to grab something.
Someone somewhere up the chain got sick of all the "overtime" that was being reported and decided to put a stop to it (we weren't even paid time and a half, so what did it matter?). A new "policy" was instated. An electronic submission form was made where we had to detail the times we worked "overtime" and all sorts of other details. Filling out the form took at least 5 minutes, and the shoddy interface sometimes caused it to wipe itself clean and force you to start over again.

Off to the doctor!
I had my MRI that identified a torn meniscus last week, and now at last I have an appointment where, I presume, I’ll find out what can be done. I have low expectations. I am a little worried that my appointment is with an orthopedic surgeon — I’d rather do PT than get surgery. I’ll find out shortly.
Never mind, the appointment is tomorrow, and I’m a doddering old fool so anxious to end my misery that I put the wrong date in my calendar.

20+ Retail workers whose customers got instant karma: 'Guy stole $60 headlights... and had to have h
When customers think they're entitled to perfect service every time they shop, it leaves retail workers rolling their eyes. There are few times in life where screaming at someone gets you what you want. This works if you are a baby or a toddler. This method performs less well when you're a 45-year-old man hollering at a poor teenage worker who's messed up your food order.
These small moments when places mess up are certainly annoying, but the way some customers react is just dialed up to 11. One worker described a customer's tantrum as watching an "elderly baby," and that's exactly how a lot of these customers act. It's almost like they've been alive for 6 decades, yet have no idea how to interact with other people.
Sometimes I wonder if newer generations will change the way that service workers are treated. After all, if you've been a waiter, fast-food worker, retail worker, or phone center worker, you know exactly how a not to talk to one of these people. Since the newer generations seem to work these minimum-wage jobs for a while, maybe there will be a shift in the attitude we sometimes see from cranky customers. I'm sure we'll still have them… but even having fewer customers who can only communicate by throwing a tantrum would be a huge improvement.
Up next, read about a fast-food worker who got back at a police officer who made them late to work by pulling a petty stunt: "The officer… informs me that I will have to wait."
