I think I feel as you do. Apple has impacted the world in some very important ways, and moved the industry forward, but their vision has tended to be restrictive. I generally prefer PCs, because I want control of my computer experience, not cede it to a company like Apple.
The world is poorer for the loss, but he did have a major impact for the time he was here.
