I managed to spend a fair bit of time on my models over the Easter weekend. I'm (still!) busy with my P-40 Tomahawk, and my Hawker Typhoon, and finally started work on the non-figure parts of the RAF trailer set. I did a bit of building, and then a couple of days airbrushing the aircraft. I'm trying a multi-layered approach on the RAF trailer. As a trailer (with tractor and a crane truck), there are lots of open sections and fiddly bits. What I'm doing is trying to create the impression of shadow in scale, which don't show up under artificial light. So I sprayed all the parts back. Then I lightly sprayed it all a dark blue, making only a light coat on the undersides and around smaller parts that might be in shadow. Then next weekend I'll use a lighter shade of blue, the final colour, over that, with more on top surfaces and none inside the vehicles and very little underneath. That should give the impression of the vehicles casting shadows in the right areas. That's the idea anyway!
