What's sad isn't just how this applies to other, ongoing arguments, but how long that view of left-handedness persisted. I can still remember my grade school teachers discouraging us from writing with our left hands, else I'd likely be ambidextrous, rather than just right-handed.

Yep, ignorance from old times... or not so old.

It stopped me from writing left-handed, at the very least, and I know it inhibited the writing skills of a number of my friends. Sometimes temporarily, sometimes permanently. It's just... surprising. To think that this is something which is still argued over, or at least was, within the past decade or two. *shakes head and wonders*

My dad’s right handed but he started mousing with his left around 2001 or so. He somehow found it just way better as his better hand was still free to mess around on the keyboard (especially if for some reason he had to type on the numpad).

I’m left handed and grew up with a Commodore 64 so I had a fair share of joysticks. I have always used them with my right hand, and I simply can’t do it any other way (I can’t and don’t play arcade games because the stick is on the left in all of them!). Back in the DOS days, our mouse was on the right and it was natural for me. Then I realised I had grown up with the cursor keys under my right hand and that I’m pretty much incapable of sending those instructions to the left and mouse-looking with my right, so once I started playing FPS games, I started switching the mouse around. Now I have EWDR instead of WASD (I find that the strafe keys are much easier to reach if they’re on the same row as the forward key), and mouse around with my left.
