We've had a few spiders around the house lately, and I took a couple of pics.
This spider had created a large web stretching from our security gate to the eaves of the roof. Out of concern for twitchy visitors, I used a broom to gather spider and web and deposit it into the garden. My outdoorsy neighbour reckoned it was a very nice example of the button spider (known in some parts of the world as a widow spider. My guess is that it was a brown button spider.

A few days later we found this little web stretched across the bars of the security gate, swarming with babies. I used a stick to gather the web and spiders, and sent them to the garden too. The spiders were so light that many ended up floating in the air; I must admit, I felt itchy for hours afterward.

I dreamed of a HUGE black spider in my car last night, under the pedals while I was driving. Ugh.
